CO2e continues to lead the way in carbon finance with facilitation of a unique

Ground-breaking transaction involving 100% pre-payment for delivery of credits under the CDM

New York, NY, May 5, 2006 – CO2e.com LLC (CO2e), a leading global broker of greenhouse gas emissions today announced its facilitation of a unique Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) transaction involving a total of 1.6 million Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) to be delivered up to the year 2012.

The multi-million dollar deal, transacted under the CDM, involves the sale of emissions credits from Agrosuper, the leading pork producer in Chile and the eighth largest in the world, to Rabobank, one of the world’s leading financial institutions.

The deal is unique and involves an immediate up-front payment of 100% of the purchase price compared with the normal practice of paying on delivery of the credits each year through the life of the contract. The project, involving the capture and combustion of methane using innovative swine manure treatment processes, puts Agrosuper well ahead of worldwide treatment standards. The ability to receive payment in advance of delivery simplifies Agrosuper’s financing of the new technology.

“CO2e continues to push forward the boundaries of carbon finance”, said Corinne Boone, Managing Director, Global Project Origination, at CO2e. “We are delighted to have helped put this unique structured transaction together and are excited by the possibilities of applying this approach to other projects.”

Agrosuper CEO, José Guzmán, added, "As a leading player in the developing global emissions market, we are once again delighted to team up with leading emissions broker CO2e and look forward to continuing our ongoing relationship with them.”

“Domenic Carratu, global head of Rabobank's Commodities & Weather Derivatives Group, commented, "Rabobank is delighted to work with top quality companies such as Agrosuper and CO2e. As a bank, sustainability matters to us, as does providing bespoke financial solutions to our core clients, as this innovative deal demonstrates".
